This is me…
My name is Lucy and I am 38 years old, from the UK. I have spent the past 3 years and 3 months working in Bangkok as a teacher and a Yoga instructor.
Thank you Lucy for taking the time to share your thoughts with Global Citizens.
What makes you happy?
I am generally happy because I believe it is within my control.
Our natural state is happiness but when we allow things to affect us then we suffer.
The following things I choose to do to connect me with my true self…
…practicing yoga, concentration, breath awareness and meditation.
…being present, being in nature, helping others and learning about myself.
…feeling free to make mistakes and take risks.
…seeing life as a human experience without trying to put too many expectations on outcomes.
I try to see the joy in any difficult situation and use laughter as a tool to connect to the silliness of the situation. I am always growing. Always evolving.
What makes you sad?
This is a strange question for me because I don’t often feel sad although sometimes I experience discomfort within myself and it is frustrating until I know why.
Usually something has happened that has triggered this discomfort and I know it is from a past experience.
I can coach myself through it and feel great relief when it passes.
True sadness to me is beautiful. I connect to the tears and find it really moving.
Normally I see people suffering and try to help them by remaining clam for them. Later when I have collected all their sadness I cry it out.
I then cry for me for bearing it but feel gratitude for the experience.
What makes you proud?
Proud I try to stay away from although it crops up from time to time. When I feel it I offer it to the universe as it creates stories about me, which are based on ego.
I feel empowered knowing that I have been through a lot of difficulties and have faced them alone, that I am, in a way self-sufficient.
I am learning to accept support from others.
What makes you wonder?
Everything makes me wonder and always has done.
I am very blessed with the trait of awe and wonder.
I like to observe things from many different perspectives.
This to me is bliss.
What does it mean to be human?
To be human to me means to explore, experience and evolve as much as I possibly can within myself as a human.
I was given this body, mind, emotions and life, but what is it?
Who am I?
Exploring all aspects pertaining to being human is what it means to me.
Expressing myself fully in the existence that I am in now.
What happened today that made you laugh?
Who are you?
How would you answer if you were asked?
