Hear a smile

Be honest

Right thought leads to right speech.

Right speech leads to right intention.

Right intention leads to right action.

The Noble Eight Fold Path – Buddhism

How many times do you find yourself talking on auto pilot?

How many time do you find yourself going through the motions of giving expected answers?

How many times do you catch yourself saying things and thinking ‘what am I talking about?’?

Let everything we do and say

Why is it so much easier to rattle off what people want to hear than what you want to say?

Right thought leads to right speech.

Right speech leads to right intention.

Right intention leads to right action.

Admitting we don’t know something is not something to be ashamed of but an opportunity to learn. When you don’t know something, what do you do?

1 – exaggerate what I do know?

2 – bumble a way through a vague answer?

3 – quickly check on Google?

4 – tell the truth?

Previously I would have done a mixture of 1 and 2 as my ego had a mini-meltdown panicking about looking stupid and more often that not an awkward silence would have followed…

Now, I choose 4 – tell the truth.

No need to stretch the truth.

No need to lie.

No need to panic.

Be honest.

I have learnt so much more about not only the content of the conversation but also the person I am having the conversation with.

I have found I am more willing to help others who don’t know instead of letting my ego label them as ‘stupid’ or ‘ignorant’ for not knowing.

Right thought leads to right speech.

Right speech leads to right intention.

Right intention leads to right action.
